How do I get verified to collect rent on Baselane?

To start collecting rent on Baselane, you’ll need to complete identity verification. This ensures your account is set up to securely receive payments.

When verification is required

• Verification becomes available after you set up your first rent collection
• You must complete verification before you can receive rent payments
• You will see a Start verification prompt after inviting your tenant, or a red banner on your dashboard

Note: When you sign up for Baselane, you’ll first be asked to verify your email, which is required for all Baselane users. 

• This email is sent immediately after you select verify
• If you do not see it in your inbox, check your spam folder or request a new one
• Note: Some email providers may have slight delays

How to complete your verification to receive rent payments on Baselane 

1. Complete your rent collection setup
2. Click Start verification from the prompt or red banner displayed on your Baselane profile
3. Enter the following details:
   1. Legal first and last name
   2. Date of birth
   3. Social Security Number (SSN)
   4. Residential address

Important Details: 

• Verification must be completed by the individual receiving rent (property owner)
• We verify individuals, not businesses
• You can request that your profile name reflect your business after verification is complete

What to expect after submitting identity verification

Most verifications are completed within seconds, but in some cases, it may take up to 2 business days (excluding weekends and federal holidays). 

Note: We may request additional identity verification requirements after completing the initial verification.

• You may see a banner indicating Identity Verification not completed
• This means additional verification is needed through our secure Identity Verification partner, Vouched
• You’ll be guided by Vouched to:
  • This will need to be completed via Desktop or Mobile with camera access 
  • Upload a live photo of your ID (front/back)
  • Take a live selfie
  • Once completed, our Risk team will review further. 

Important: We may conduct additional review (case-by-case)

Baselane’s internal risk team may request documents to verify property ownership and may request the following over email: 

• Lease agreements
• Property ownership documents

Our payment processor, Stripe, may also request additional information

• You’ll see a banner prompting you to provide additional details
• This must be completed before you can receive rent payments
