How do I add one of my External Bank accounts or credit card?

  • Updated

To connect a new bank or credit card account securely with Plaid, please follow these steps:

  • Go to the External Accounts tab
  • Click on 'Add External Account' in the top right
  • Select ‘Add securely with Plaid’
  • A pop will appear for you to connect your accounts securely using Plaid, which is trusted by over 7,000 companies to safely connect financial accounts to their apps and services
  • In the pop-up, press ‘Continue’, and find the banking institution for the account you would like to connect
  • Once you have entered your bank credentials and Plaid has validated your information, you can select the account(s) you would like to connect to Baselane
  • Once connected, you can edit the nickname and decide if you would like to Import Transactions (which we recommend for Baselane’s Bookkeeping feature), as well as define a rule to auto-tag all transactions from the selected account to a specific unit or property

Alternatively, you can also manually add External Accounts via account and routing number by following these steps:

  • Go to the External Accounts tab
  • Click on ‘Add External Account’
  • Click on ‘Add manually’
  • Fill in all required account information
  • Click ‘Add Account’ to confirm

How do I access my external bank accounts?

Your external bank accounts can be accessed from the External Accounts tab, where your accounts added via Plaid and manually added will be included.

My Accounts

This will include all of your external bank accounts and will have a sub-section for the accounts you’ve added through Plaid and also for accounts that you’ve manually added with their account and routing numbers.

Where possible, we always recommend connecting securely with Plaid, as Manually Added External Accounts offer limited functionality (can only receive rent payments or transfers from Baselane Banking; cannot be used to send funds to Baselane Banking, or import balances/transactions for Bookkeeping). You can read more about the differences between the two approaches here.
