What Should I Do if I Notice Suspicious or Unauthorized Debit Card Transactions?

  • Updated

If you notice a transaction you don't recognize on your Baselane debit card (physical or virtual), act quickly. Locking your card immediately can help prevent additional unauthorized transactions while you begin the dispute process.

Report Unauthorized Transactions

If you do not recognize a debit card transaction or believe your card has been compromised:

  1. Call Baselane Visa Support at +1 (833) 852-1519.
  2. When prompted, report your card as lost or stolen to be connected to a live Visa representative.
  3. Visa Support will:
    • Help you submit a dispute for any unauthorized transactions.

Important: If an unauthorized transaction was approved and posted to your account, you must submit the dispute directly through Visa Support, and it cannot be completed through Baselane.

Frequently Asked Questions

I received a notification about an unauthorized transaction, but it was declined. Do I still need to contact Visa?

No. If the transaction was declined, our card processor blocked the attempted charge before it could be approved. Your Baselane account was never at risk, and no personal or account information was shared with the merchant.

While no further action is required to protect your account, if you'd feel more comfortable, we're happy to close your current debit card and issue you a replacement. Please refer to How to Replace Your Debit Card above for more information.

The unauthorized transaction was approved. How do I dispute it?

Please call Visa Support at +1 (833) 852-1519. Visa Support handles disputes for unauthorized debit card transactions.

How do I replace my debit card?

After contacting Visa Support, contact Baselane Support (support@baselane.com) if you'd like a replacement physical debit card. We'll be happy to assist.
